Imo police invite Ihedioha, Irona, Ugochinyere over alleged homicide

Imo State Police Command has invited for questioning the immediate past governor of the state, Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, his deputy, Engr Gerald Irona, and spokesperson for Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) and House of Reps-elect, Barr Ikenga Ugochinyere, for alleged murder, kidnapping and arson.

A letter of invitation addressed to the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Engr Charles Ugwu, which was signed by the  deputy commissioner of police in charge of administration, Ukachi Opara, requested the PDP chairman to produce them today at the State Criminal Bureau of the police command.

“The office of State Intelligence Bureau, Imo State Police Command, state Headquarters Owerri, is investigating the above-underlined case involving some prominent members of the Peoples Democratic Party, Imo State chapter.

“The Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, requests you come along with the following persons, Emeka Ihedioha, Ugochinyere Ikenga Imo, Gerald Irona, to interview, the commissioner of police, through the officer in charge of State Intelligence Bureau, Owerri, date: Thursday, March 16, 2023, Time 10:00 prompt.”

When contacted, the PDP spokesperson, Hon Collins Opuruzor, confirmed the police invitation.

The PDP legal adviser,  Barr Kissinger Ikeokwu, said the State Working Committee received the police invitation asking the party chairman to produce Emeka Ihedioha, Gerald Irona and Ikenga Ugochinyere  at the SIB unit of the command headquarters in Owerri on Thursday.

Chief Ihedioha’s spokesperson, Chibuike Onyeukwu, said he had seen the invitation letter on social media.
