3 lawyers docked for alleged forgery in Lagos

Three lawyers, Gowin Etim, Agadah Anthony, and Mark Aliu have been arraigned by the Lagos State government has arraigned before the state High Court sitting in Tafawa Balewa Square for alleged forgery.

The lawyers were docked before Justice Oshoala on a two-count charge bordering on the alleged forging of a signature in a civil matter where the will’s validity was contested against the second and third defendants.

The first defendant counselled the second and third defendants in the civil case before Justice Williams Daodu allegedly procured an affidavit purportedly sworn to by the complainant, Femi Emeya, one of the beneficiaries in the will of Fada Moses Emeya.

He was alleged to have forged Femi Emeya’s signature and that the facts in the affidavits were false

The prosecutor also told the court that the defendants allegedly conspired to commit the offence on December 13, 2021, at the registry of the Lagos State High court

Olateju claimed that the three lawyers forged the complainant’s signature on a document titled ‘Application for further affidavit’ dated December 13, 2021

He maintained that the offences committed by the defendants violated Sections 411, 365 (3) (f) of the criminal laws of Lagos State 2015

However, the defendants pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge

Justice Osuala adjourned the hearing of the bail applications filed by the defendants till March 14
