A pro-democracy in the fold of the Abia State chapter of the African Democractic Congress (ADC), United Youth for Accountability and Development Initiative (UYADI), has laughed off the purported suspension of the main Governorship candidate of the ADC in the state for the March election, Bishop Sunday Onuoha, on the non existent and malicious allegation of anti party activities by those it described as non party members.
The organization described the unwholesome actions of few disgruntled elements against Bishop Onuigbo as senseless, and does not reflect to the general opinions of majority of members, teeming supporters and entire Abia people across the 184 electoral wards of the 17Â local government areas in Abia State.
The UYADI made its position known in a release jointly signed by its Executive Director, Emmanuel Gbaruko, issued to newsmen in Umuahia on Wednesday.
Recall that a faction of the African Democratic Congress Abia State led by Mr Don Norman Obinna, had on Tuesday, suspended its governorship candidate in the forthcoming election, Bishop Sunday Onuoha, and three other candidates.
This was as the party stated its readiness to endorse a governorship candidate of another political party in the state.
Addressing newsmen after a meeting of the factional state working committee of the ADC, Norman Obinna also disclosed others to include: Abraham Godson, candidate for Abia Central Senatorial District; Iyke Nwoke, the Umuahia Central State Constituency candidate; and one Mr Osita Offor.
Obinna said Onuoha was suspended for breaching Article 22 of the party’s constitution by being involved in “acts and conducts that have brought the party into hatred, disrepute and public ridicule, as well as engaging in an unauthorised publicity of party dispute (using his radio station) and the fractionalisation and creating of parallel party organs.
“we learnt Mr Don Norman Obinna was suspended, and later expelled as a member of the party and state ADC chairman.
“We discovered that due to justifiable refusal of Bishop Sunday Onuoha to release over three hundred million naira (N300, 000, 000) he estimated and listed in the budgetary proposal to procure the needed logistics to be used to persecute 2023 electioneering campaigns of the main Gubernatorial candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Abia state, Bishop Sunday Ndukwo Onuoha.
“There’s no gainsaying the fact that Norman Obinna has this penchance for criminal extortion of notable Abia leaders which had severally sent him to Afara prison or dentention cell of Nigeria correctional center(NCC) in umuahia. Abia people also know that Mr Norman Obinna duped a former governor of Abia state and the current representative of Abia central district in the national assembly, Senator Theodore Orji. And this particular dubious tendencies of this man was the major reason he was imprisoned on the order of Abia high court and magistrate court following a petition to the authorities of the Nigeria police and the outcome of investigation carried a year or thereafter.
“In his steady criticisms and unwarranted campaign of calumny being launched on the ADC governorship candidate, Bishop Sunday Onuoha, Don Norman Obinna having realized that his plan to defraud the respected man of God and Global Peace award winner would not rear head, he resorted to sponsoring of cheap propaganda and character assassination against Bishop Onuoha; and reducing himself to pettiness”.
The organization who further used the medium to remind the non party members that Bishop Sunday Ndukwo Onuoha, was overwhelmingly elected as the Abia ADC Gubernatorial candidate at a well-attended and concluded gubernatorial primary election conducted by the leadership of the party in umuahia in June 2022.
“As it is now, the name, Bishop Sunday Onuoha is in the INEC lists of names of governorship candidates that emerged successfully through transparent and concluded primaries conducted by political parties across all the states in the federation last year. And thousands of Norman Obinna cannot stop God’s divine call for continous service to humanity on Bishop Onuoha, mainly, to salvage Abia people and masses from misgovernance being experienced in Abia state by successive administrations since Nigeria’s assumption of present democratic system of government.
