2023: PDP warns Umahi against further attack on opposition

Must read

The Director General of Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), Ebonyi State Campaign Council, Chief Austin Igwe-Edeze has said it has become difficult for PDP to express their dissatisfaction over escalating man-made insecurity in the state manifesting in the sporadic attack from the opposition groups.

Chief Edeze made this known during a press briefing at Anyi Chuks’s Campaign office in Abakaliki, the state capital.

He noted that the Governor of Ebonyi state Engr David Umahi has vigorously declared that his party will win the election by all means at the poll.

The PDP campaign Boss, however, indicated that shortly after the pronouncement of provocative words of Umahi, he demanded his Ebubeagu instrument of operation to attack the Governorship candidate of All Progressive Grand Alliance, Professor Bernard Odo during a rally at Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State. Since then, his command has remained the open-minded direction of Killers groups called Ebubeagu in Ebonyi whose aim is to attack opposition parties in the state

He said recently, Senator Sam Egwu was attacked at the home of Onyekachi Nwebonyi in Ebonyi Local Government shortly after the end of his rally by Ebubeagu security operatives who came and shot for 30 minutes and despises the crowd and left many wooded.

In his words, “Governor Umahi is desperately depositing action without thinking about how history will remember him tomorrow, Ebony PDP condemns the attack on Egwu and other candidates of the party which seems to be a plan to stop the electorate from voting for their choice forthcoming general election.

“Governor Umahi has also directed opposition rallies by keeping supporters away by mobilizing Ebubeagu hoodlums to attack PDP and its candidates.

We want to sound very clear that nobody has a monopoly of violence and as such, Governor Umahi should restrain from further escalation of the crisis for any purpose whatever.”
