JUST IN: DSS storms CBN Headquarters, cordons off Emefiele’s office — Report

Must read

Operatives of the Department of State Service (DSS) have invaded the headquarters of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), blocking the office of the embattled governor of the apex bank, Godwin Emefiele.

Report claims the secret police stormed the CBN headquarters in Abuja on Monday afternoon.

Recall that there has been a running battle between the DSS and Emefiele over alleged terrorism financing against the latter and this latest invasion may not be unconnected to the issue.

Emefiele had reportedly returned to the country last Wednesday, amidst speculations that he would be arrested by DSS. He had left the country for several weeks following the investigation of several allegations against him, including corruption and terrorism financing.

Recall that the DSS had quietly sought a court order to arrest Mr Emefiele but the Federal High Court, Abuja rejected their request.
