A leaked audio tape by an ex-media aide to Atiku Abubakar, Chris Achimugu has revealed how Atiku Abubakar allegedly laundered public funds using what he called SPVs and Placeholders.
Disclosing that in 2018, as a media aide to the then Vice President, he emailed Mr Abubakar on how to defend a serious corruption allegation on the N100m paid by the then plateau State Governor, Joshua Dariye. But Atiku said the money was paid via SPV, and not directly to him.
In the audio, Atiku had explained to his aide that different companies had been created and fronted by other persons including Andy Uba so that in the case of corruption allegation, it will be difficult to trace such to him.
Atiku admitted in the audio that Dariye sent N100 million to him, but argued that the money cannot be traced to him.
The former aide uploaded the audio of the conversation he had with his former boss.
