Must read

Chief Uche Aguoru, the Director of New media of the Peoples Democratic Party Governorship campaign Orgainzation in Abia state, has berated the continuous falsehoods and propaganda by the opposition parties against the PDP gubernatorial candidate in the state, Professor Uche Ikonne.

Aguoru particularly lambasted the Young Progressives Party (YPP) Governorship candidate in Abia, Engr Enyinnaya Nwafor on his frequent negative utterances on Ikonne, regretted the opposition candidate has jettisoned issue-based campaigns and resorted to sponsoring and unleashing series of calumnious attacks on the latter which according to party staimed at currying undeserved sympathy, and score cheap points ahead of the next year’s general elections in Abia state.

He was speaking in umuahia on saturday, on the backdrop of the recent exchange of political brickbats between camp of the Abia Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate and supporters of co-contestant on platform of the Young Peoples Party, Nwafor.

Mr Aguoru further reiterated the state  campaign organization remained constructive and focused in promoting Ikonne’s candidacy under the umbrella party in Abia, and vowed Uche Ndi Abia Campaign Organization of the PDP gubernatorial ticket-bearer will not succumb to lies and cheap propaganda spreadheaded by the opposition Young Progressives Party and her media hirelings in Abia state.

The PDP campaign spokesman who also regretted the series of threat calls on his life by unknown individuals over his consistent responses and counter-statements against falsehoods and evil vituperation by opposition parties, maintained he can’t be subdued by intimidation under whatever guise.

His words: “I am never cowed or subdued by any form of intimidation. I have been receiving all manner of threats from some cowardly unknown elements who have been creeping into my inbox and calling me on phone to threaten me for criticizing you. All that won’t make me stop asking you to give an account of the jobs you did as a Government contractor who now wants to govern me.

“Just one response to all the falsehood, lies and propaganda that you have been sponsoring and enjoying from your media hirelings. You rushed to the DSS with a petition to compel me to stop the interrogation of your activities as a government contractor who handled virtually all Abia government contracts across all sectors from cleaning, road construction, building construction, supplies etc.

“That shows how intolerant you will be to criticism if given the impossible opportunity to become a governor, I thought that you would have copied the spirit of tolerance from your friend and brother Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu who had tolerated and allowed everybody free political air that your team has grossly abused”.

While alarming on the lastest machination by the Young Progressive Party to gag and silent him over steady interrogation of his activities as government contractor who according to him handled almost all Infrastructural building awarded by the current administration in the state, Aguoru tasked the opposition candidates and their media hirelings on the importance of constructive engagement on criticisms and further urged them to toe the path of objectivity in promoting their candidates and tell Abia electorates what he or she would do differently if given the opportunity.

He partly stated:”for those who go about writing petitions, we are yet to buy the beans, we are yet to separate the stones not to talk of cooking and adding sungu and you are already crying to DSS.

“As the saying goes, he who lives in a glass house should not throw stones and if you are sure you can’t stand the heat please leave the kitchen”.
