2023: Opposition parties behind burning INEC office in Ebonyi — APC alleges

Hon. Stanley Okoro Emegha, the Ebonyi State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has alleged that the opposition parties should be held responsible for the burning of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in the state.

Emegha, while reacting to the recent burning of INEC office at Iboko the headquarters of Izzi Local Government Area of the state called on security agencies to arrest the culprits.

He stated that before the APC kicked off its campaign last week, some bigwigs of the opposition parties had joined the fold, stating that more are warming up to join.

Unidentified hoodlums had in the early hours of Monday set the entire building of INEC ablaze.

Although, the main building and all the movable and immovable items inside the office were destroyed, no life was lost.

Destroyed in the inferno were 340 ballot boxes, 130 voting cubicles, 14 electric power generators, large water storage tanks, assorted office furniture and fixtures and yet to be determined quantities of Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs).
