Police seek collaborations to tackle crimes in hotels

Must read

The Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Abiodun Alabi, on Thursday called on hoteliers across the country to set up a regulatory body that could work with the police to curb crimes in hotels.

Alabi, who was represented by CSP Joshua Nkereuwem, made the call during the Lagos Tourism Roundtable organised by the Institute of Tourism Professionals of Nigeria (ITPN), in Lagos.

The programme had the theme: “Lagos Tourism:Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow”.

The commissionser who decried the activities of internet fraudsters and prostitutes in hotels, said it had become necessary for hoteliers to work unanimously with the police to address the trend.

“I think it is high time the hoteliers create a regulatory body that can work with us to curb the atrocities carried out in hotels by prostitutes and the Yahoo boys.

“We need this regulatory body in the area of information gathering so that swift action can be taken to guide against evil occurences in hotels.

“The Police needs human treatment, take us as those with blood flowing in their veins,” he said.

Alabi also advised the state government to erect street cameras across the state as well as Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) for proper monitoring. (NAN)
