Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Babachir Lawal has said the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate never approached them for a discussion, hence he was behaving as if he is already the president of the country.
Lawal who spoke on Channels Television after his group’s open endorsement of Peter Obi said despite their position in support of Obi who is of the Labour Party, they remain members of the APC.
According to Lawal, only Obi-Datti group has the potential of rescue Nigeria.
On his membership of the APC, he said:
“in a democracy, you are allowed to disagree even in a party. So I’m still a member of the party, but I have endorsed Peter Obi. It’s not like Dogara and I are the only people in the movement. Long before then, we havmd a group of Christains in the APC when we sensed this trend has been going on since the emergence of the party. APC has always sidelined Christians in the party, so we had this pressure group where we continue to push for the inclusion of Christains in the politics of the APC.
“Now, we are about 40. When I came here, I said the Mudlim-Muslim ticket was dead on arrival. That was the first public comment on this matter. So 40 of us continue to strategize on what next to do
“And we took time to analyse the political terrain. and we agreed on something. To be sincere, APC didn’t bother to come to us. Everybody in that party ingnored us, including the candidate. He is behaving as if he is already the president and does not want to talk to us.”
