The Federal High Court in Lagos Monday remanded one Omeje Oliver, who allegedly used the name ‘David Mark’ for illegal drug importation.
The presiding judge, Justice Ambrose Lewis-Allagoa ordered that Oliver stay in the Nigerian Correctional Services (NCoS) custody till Friday when his bail application will be heard after Oliver’s ‘not guilty’ plea to a two-count charge of unlawful dealing in 950 grammes of heroin.
The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) which arraigned him, alleged that the defendant on April 13, 2022, procured one Idokoja Solomon Chukwurah to export 950 grammes of Heroin.
Prosecution counsel Mr. Abu Ibrahim said the offence contravened sections 21 (2)(d) and 11(b) of the NDLEA Act, 2004.
The Nation reports that following his plea, his lawyer, Dennis Warri opposed the prosecutor’s prayer that Oliver be remanded till the determination of the trial, arguing that he had already filed the defendant’s bail application.
Justice Lewis-Allagoa remanded Oliver till Friday when his bail application will be heard.
