Must read

Dr Uche Ogah, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Gubernatorial candidate  for the 2023 general elections in Abia State, has solicited for the maximum support of the electorates to enable him actualize his developmental plans for the state if voted into office.

Ogah who was also the immediate past Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, made the appeal in an interview with journalists in Umuahia, shortly after his arrival at Sam Mbakwe Cargo Airport Owerri from Abuja on Wednesday.

AFRIPOST recalls that a federal high court in Abuja had on 11th November 2022, sacked the immediate past Pro-chancellor and the Chairman of the Governing Board Council of University of Nigeria Nsukka in Enugu State, Ikechi Emenike, and affirmed Ogah as the authentic APC gubernatorial candidate in Abia State.

The presiding judge, Justice Binta Murtala-Nyako, while delivering her judgement in the suit by Ogah, held that the indirect primary election which produced Emenike was in total disobedience to a letter forwarded by the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress to INEC that it would adopt a direct mode primary election in the state.

The judge also held it was alien how APC notified INEC of its decision to adopt the direct primary mode in the state and abandoned it by according recognition to a candidate, Emenike who emerged from a purported indirect primary, saying such is invalid.

She further held the direct primary election of May 26th and 27th May 2022, which produced Ogah, a former Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development was the only valid governorship primary election conducted by APC in Abia and monitored by INEC, report of which was endorsed by the Resident Electoral Commissioner in charge of Abia State.

Justice Binta  Nyako said that by virtue of Section 84(4) of the Electoral Act, 2022 the direct primaries held by the 2nd Defendant/and monitored by the 4th Defendant on 26th May, 2022 was in substantial compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act and therefore lawful and valid.

However, Ogah while speaking with newsmen in Umuahia on Wednesday, said the recent court verdict which affirmed his Gubernatorial candidacy was experience which God had allowed to prove that it pays to follow due process and laid down principles as enshrined in the constitution of the country.

He explained that governorship bid is predicated on the clarion calls by Abians for a responsive leadership at all levels of the state, and his genuine desire to rescue Abia people from stagnation, infrastructural decadence, dwindling Abia economic potentials, joblessness, collapse in standard of education and healthcare delivery system, including rising insecurity in Abia state which he maintained, successive administrations controlled by the ruling Peoples Democratic Party have failed to demonstrate capacity towards addressing them in the last twenty-three years the party held sway, promising to reverse the negative trend in all facets of these human livelihoods when supported to emerge as Abia governor in next year general elections.

According to Ogah, “APC is bringing a better oriented governance for Abia people to have a new leaf that can bring succour to many Abians that are downtrodden. Many has lost hope but God has restore their hope through the court by the candidate of APC in Abia State.

“You can see that hope is restored. The reception you see today shows you that people wants a change. The people loves the candidate, they want to feel the candidate possess, that is what we want to bring to bare in governance in Abia State”, the party chieftain added.

Ogah expressed profound gratitude to the Nigeria judiciary which affirmed him as the authentic APC gubernatorial candidate as he said the court decision has vindicated that judicial arm of government is the last hope of ordinary man.

The APC governorship candidate called on Abia electorates to protect their votes from riggers and enemies of democracy during the forthcoming general elections in the state.

“It is not about me but about everybody. We have strategy, 2019 election is not going to be the same in next year election”.

Similarly, the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Abia state, Dr Uche Ogah, has announced the appointment of a former speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Stanley Ugochukwu Ohazuruka, as the Director General of his Campaign organization.

Ofah who announced this during grand reception organized in his honour shortly after arrival at Sam Mbakwe Cargo Airport Owerri from Abuja on Wednesday, following the court verdict which affirmed him as the authentic APC Gubernatorial Candidate in Abia state for the 2023 main election in Abia state recently.
