Tinubu, Atiku meet again, joke, laugh off political issues, tension

Must read

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party and former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar met briefly at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Monday with Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

It was the second time the frontline contestants met at the airport. Recall that the duo met at the airport last month where they exchanged pleasantries and read inscriptions in their costumes.

During the Monday meeting, the top politicians smiled at each other as they exchanged pleasantries under the watchful eyes of their party chieftains.

Senator Abdullahi Adamu, National Chairman of the ruling party, and Mohammed Hayatudeen, a PDP Presidential aspirant who lost his party’s ticket to Atiku, were at the airport at the time of the meeting.

The meeting held less than 24 hours after the opposition party demanded Tinubu’s withdrawal from the 2023 race.

The PDP had said Tinubu was ineligible to contest “because of credibility questions hanging on his personality which are inimical to requirements provided in Nigeria’s Constitution for anyone willing to contest for the presidency.”

Since the presidential election campaign, both Atiku and Tinubu’s camp have been firing ‘missiles’ at each other, telling the other to step down or be sacked through the poll. They have equally raised a few allegations capable of disqualifying either the PDP contestant of the APC’s Tinubu.
