How we escaped death in Borno PDP rally – Journalist narrates

An Arise TV reporter, Mary Chinda, has narrated how she and other journalists escaped death by a whisker alongside at the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential rally that took place in Maiduguri on Wednesday.

Recall that Atiku Abubakar Abubakar’s convoy was reportedly attacked by suspected thugs, as some party supporters were injured and several vehicles vandalised.

Chinda who sustained muscular injuries during the attack, said she almost lost her life.

She narrated that despite being part of the convoy.of the presidential candidate, journalists were also attacked.

She said, “While on the way to the campaign ground, the PDP presidential candidate’s convoy was attacked as we made to leave the palace of the Shehu of Borno. In a bid to escape the aggressive and rowdy crowd, I hurried into a Marcopolo luxury bus that carried the National Woman Leader and other party officials. As we moved, stones and what sounded like dane guns were pelted at our bus. I lost balance and tripped over as the driver swerved the car to get us to safety.

“I went blank and lost consciousness for a split second, until I was lifted by Mr. Osaro and Mr. Mohammed of the presidential campaign council who provided first aid from the medical team,” she added.

Meanwhile, report has claimed that the attack has so far claimed one life.

The governorship candidate of the PDP in Borno State, Mohammed Jajari, who while confirming the incident during an interview on Channels TV, said at least 100 persons were injured following the attack.
