BREAKING: Over 70 supporters injured as suspected APC thugs attack Atiku’s convoy in Borno

No fewer than 70 supporters of Atiku Abubakar, Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), were injured and hospitalised in Maiduguri, Borno State on Wednesday.

The supporters in the convoy of the former Vice President were reportedly attacked by suspected All Progressives Congress (APC) thugs.

A group of people were seen running in different directions for their dear lives in a video seen on social media while the suspected thugs shot into the air continuously.

The PDP presidential campaign trail was bid to hold a rally in Borno, an APC-controlled state, on Wednesday.

Daily Trust reports that many vehicles in the convoy were vandalised at Ramat Square in Maiduguri, the state capital.

Senator Dino Malaye, Spokesman of the Atiku Campaign organisation blamed the attack on the ruling party in Borno.

He said that more than 70 people were hospitalised.

“They wanted to prevent us from holding the campaign, as we speak, 74 people were injured and hospitalised.

“Several vehicles were vandalised by APC thugs.”

Daily Trust correspondent saw hundreds of suspected political thugs at strategic locations along Maiduguri/Kano road.
