Insecurity: Ogah sues for improved intelligence gathering

Must read

Dr Uche Sampson Ogah, the Abia State Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2023 general elections, has regretted the myriads of security problems impeding the economic development of Nigeria.

He emphasized the important need for Nigerian authority to strengthen its intelligence gathering in the current fight against acts of criminalities being experienced in most states of the federation.

Ogah who was the immediate past Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development made his position known, on Tuesday, on the heels of his agenda for local security when elected into the office of the Governor of Abia State in 2023.

It was contained in a release made available to AFRIPOST on Tuesday in Umuahia, the state capital.

According to him, “Nigeria has experienced a myriad of security challenges in its various constituting states for a long while, and this situation seems intractable. Abia state has had its own share of security issues bordering largely on kidnapping for ransom, robbery, arson, and several other vices. This sad situation ought not to be obtainable in a state like Abia.

He reiterated that an intelligence-based approach remains the most plausible format for nipping insecurity in the bud before it becomes rampant in any environment instead of the reactionary system that has been in place in Abia State.

Words: “Around the world and especially in developed climes, information-gathering and target acquisition-based security systems have ensured Infrastructure and economic development. By the grace of God as Governor of Abia State, this is what I would implement as it is already captured in my action plan for the state”.

The frontline Abia governorship candidate of the APC further reminded the citizenry that economic development cannot be achieved under an atmosphere of insecurity, and assured that his administration when elected into office in 2023, will lead by instituting reforms in all sectors as Abia state has been set back for more than twenty-four years and reassured that no time will be wasted in futile ventures.

“Therefore, as my vision for Abia State is based mainly on economic rejuvenation, all factors that will contribute to achieving that primary aim will be immediately activated and chief of such factors is security of lives and properties and businesses of Abians.

“In ensuring lasting security, the administration I will lead will be a step ahead of any category of those that may seek to constitute any form of nuisance or security challenges to the people of Abia state through the establishment of a bimodal intelligence gathering system which will be supported with a strategic weapons system to ensure complete eradication of Insecurity of our state and her people”.

Ogah promised that his administration shall guarantee a policing system that will reposition Abia as most peaceful state in Nigeria with its attendant economic benefits to the people.
