2023 Presidency: APC campaign council member, Nwaogu pledges to work towards achieving party’s objective

Must read

Senator Nkechi Nwaogu, a stalwart of the All Progressives Congress,  has pledged her unwavering and genuine commitments to work towards the emergence of Nigeria President from  southern Nigeria under the platform of the governing APC  in the coming 2023 general elections in the country.

The ex-member of the National Assembly made the pledge in a terse statement shortly after the formal inauguration of Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council which took place on Friday at Aso Rock, Abuja.

It was contained in a release made available to newsmen on Saturday,

Senator Nwaogu who was newly- inaugurated as Director, South East Legislative Directorate APC Presidential Campaign Council, alongside others into the campaign council partly stated, “I’m pledging to work effectively, efficiently and assiduously for the actualization of the objective of our great party, APC”.

Recall that Nwaogu represented Abia central senatorial district of Abia state at the red chamber of the National Assembly between 2007-2011 under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and served also as the immediate past Pro-chancellor and the Chairman of the University of Calabar, Cross River State.

Meanwhile, recall that Senator Nkechi Justina Nwaogu had sought for the Senatorial ticket of the All Progressives Congress for Abia central district seat of Abia state to return to the senate during the just concluded primary elections, and later, withdrew from the senatorial primaries conducted by the leadership of the governing APC.

The Abia stalwart cited confusion in the leadership of the All Progressives Congress in Abia state following a purported harmonization of Interests of party members for elective political positions  before conducted primaries by the party leadership, as the major reason behind her sudden withdrawal from the APC  national assembly race.

Nwaogu further used the medium to debunk her purported support to the gubernatorial candidacy of Mr Ikechi Emenike as insinuated by former minority leader of Abia State House of Assembly and the immediate past Chairman of the APC in Abia state, Hon Donatus Chidi Nwankpa during one of the stakeholders’ meetings by the party in Umuahia, the state capital.

The Party stalwart insisted that she never authoritised or asked Donatus Nwankpa to speak or declare whatever supports  on Ikechi Emenike on behalf of her,  adding that the former state party chairman was speaking for himself and his Ikechi Emenike.

“Now i know the stock he is made of. He’s speaking for himself and his Oga(Emenike). The purported statement from Nwankpa was not from me, I’m yet to speak. I am a member of the APC, i will remain in APC, so, Nwankpa and Ikechi Emenike are sinking boats”.
