Provide alternative means of resumption in schools affected by insecurity -Adamu tells govt

The Chairman Niger state branch of the Nigeria Union of Teachers,  Akayago Adamu Mohammed has called on the State Government to as a matter of serious concern provide safe alternative means towards ensuring the resumption of normal academic activities in schools affected by insecurity in the state.
The state NUT Chairman made this known during the celebration of the 2022 World Teachers Day in Minna, and said the security situation has badly affected schools in Rafi, Shiroro, Mashegu, Paikoro, Munya, Mariga, and Rijau local government areas.
He noted that the continuous closure of schools as a result of the awful development has adversely affected the desired delivery of quality education and the lives of children in the affected local governments of the state.
” Continuous closure of schools in the seven local governments is impacting negatively in the pupils and students of the concern schools and threatening the desired peace in our society”.
The state NUT Chairman urged the state government to as a matter of urgency pay all salaries of teachers in the state as at when due and balance of ten month arrears of salary cut are paid.
Niger state Governor Alh Abubakar Sani Bello in his address told the teacher that his administration is aware that many schools are still closed down due to security challenges in the affected local governments.
Represented by his Deputy, Alh. Ahmed Ketso, Bello assured that all the backlog of salaries owed teachers would be cleared soon and remuneration paid as when as due.
In her remarks, the state commissioner for Education, Hajiya Hanatu Jibrin disclosed  some notable achievements of her ministry to include streamlining and strengthening the operations of the departments of the Ministry and the creation of an ICT department;
Repositioning and reinforcing the operations of Private Schools Board and Education Quality Assurance and Standards Agency, amongst many others.
Hajiya Jibrin assured teachers and education managers that the government of Governor Sani Bello is aware of the challenges confronting them and their contribution to the development of the State.
