Russian President, Vladimir Putin, is planning a ceremony in an ornate Kremlin hall to formally declare Russia’s takeover of about 15% of Ukraine, the biggest takeover in Europe since World War II.
Putin boasted that the four Ukrainian regions would remain under the control of Russia forever.
The announcement follows the referendums in Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia, which the West countries have slammed as illegal.
However, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukraine’s President, has condemned the move, saying that Putin prefers a war more than peace and life.
UN chief, Antonio Guterres has also called it a dangerous escalation and a violation of the United Nations charter.
