But standing in for the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu is his running mate, Kashim Shettima, fueling the ongoing rumour that Tinubu is sick and out of the country.

The initiative was conceived in 2014 in response to emerging threats occasioned by the 2015 general elections.

Those present at the signing which took place in Abuja were Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP); Kashim Shettima, vice-presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who represented Bola Tinubu, the Labour party’s presidential candidate; Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso, presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party; and Omoyele Sowore, presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC).

The peace accord was brokered by the National Peace Committee (NPC) led by Abdulsalami Abubakar, the nation’s former head of state.
