The Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS, has released a public notice warning Ministries, Departments and Agencies of Government against the practice of appointing concessionaires or consultants for the assessment, collection, accounting or enforcement of taxes and levies due to the federal government.
FIRS said it’s aware that some MDAs include the above functions in their agreements with concessionaires or consultants.
Quoting some sections of the FIRS Act, the service said such a practice was punishable upon conviction, with fine, imprisonment or both.
