ASUU strike: Nigerian students to shut down Abuja airport, Kaduna road today

Must read

The National Association of Nigerian Students has released a new timetable for its ongoing nationwide protest.

Recall that the students shut down the Lagos airport on Tuesday, forcing passengers to miss their flights and frustrating other business activities at the airport.

But in the timetable released and signed by the ‘President-Elect’ of the student body, Usman Barambu, dated Monday, NANS scheduled the protests to hold zone by zone.

The protest will move from Zone A to Zone E. Abuja is expected to be the last location for the final protest.

Starting from September, the protest will run till October 11, 2022. Barambu will then lead the “Abuja shutdown,” after the timetable is completed.

As part of the protest, the students body said its members will block the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja and Kaduna-Abuja Expressway on Wednesday (today) as part of the protest.

NANS is protesting the prolonged strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), saying enough is enough.

The students have been at home for over 7 months and despite effort by stakeholders to end the strike, both government and ASUU could not reach a reasonable agreement.
