The Ebonyi State police command has handed over a five months old baby who was sold out in April 2022 back to his mother.
According to the police public relations officer S.P Chris Anyanwu who addressed journalists in Abakaliki on Monday, the mother of the child Miss Ola Echebu Chima sold her child for five hundred thousand naira.
Anyanwu told journalists that a suspected child trafficker Mrs Anna Mma Elechi who run an illegal maternity home in Afikpo North local government area of Ebonyi State bought the child and resold him to another person.
He noted that all the parties involved in the act have been arrested.
According to the mother of the child Miss Ola Chima who claimed to have missed her child said that it was act of hardship that made her to sale the baby, noting that her family told her that the man who is responsible for the pregnancy is dead not knowing he is still alive.
However, her acclaimed husband, Mr Uche Ogbonna who is responsible for the pregnancy said he had intention to marry her but her family members took her away which made them to loss contact
