Onuh showcases legacies as Ogbadibo LG chairman

Must read

Immediate past chairman of Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue State, Hon. Samuel Onuh has showcased his achievements while in office as the Executive Chairman.

Onuh, who is recently nicknamed “Wike of Benue” by his supporters, in his Facebook post on Tuesday challenged those that would doubt his legacies to go to the local government to very his claims.

The politician was bold to say that his achievements have no equal among the 23 local government councils in Benue State.

Onuh wrote:

“When I took over at the Ogbadibo local government secretariat, the whole structure was in a state of disrepair. Our biggest weakness as a people is in the area of maintenance and that was very visible at the Ogbadibo local government secretariat.

“An imposing edifice bequeathed to the people by one of my predecessors, Late Hon. Donny Roberts, the Secretariat never witnessed any form of maintenance or renovation in almost 20 years before my emergence as the chairman.

“Taking the bull by the horns, I repaired leaking roofs, screeded fading surfaces, fortified cracking walls, reenforced weak pillars and changed collapsed asbestos ceilings to PVCs. 62 office rooms were painted inside out and furnished.

“From the chairman’s office where the carpet on the floor reminds one of the house of a dirty old woman to all the different offices, the extensive work carried out is there for all to see.

“Today, workers who used to sit on blocks and planks under the mango tree to carry out their official functions now have comfortable chairs and tables with drawers and lockers for their files in their neat offices.

“The Chairman and Vice Chairman’s offices now have executive looks and I dare say that ours have no equal among the 23 local government councils in Benue State. These things are there for doubting Thomases to go and verify for themselves (apologies to Mr Peter Obi).

“Like visitors who have been to other Local Government Secretariats before coming to Ogbadibo, you will appreciate what we’ve done better if you visit one of our neighbouring secretariat and compare what is obtainable their with our own.

“In two and a half years, I graded roads in almost every Council Ward in Ogbadibo despite the paucity of funds, provided Exercise Books for many pupils in primary and secondary schools and was at the forefront of the war against insecurity in the council. Above all, welfare of the people was my topmost priority and there are living witnesses who benefited from the little we could give at a time.

“I am proud of my legacy as a local government chairman and it gives me an unhinged license to talk among my peers.”
