Sen. Jarigbe Agom-Jarigbe, representing Cross River North Senatorial District who presented the streetlights and the accessories in Obanliku community on Saturday, said the initiative was part of his constituency outreach.

“The gesture was meant to give the community a sense of belonging by enhancing the welfare of the residents,” he said.

The law maker lamented that it was regrettable that the community lacked social services and semblance of government presence, saying he would strive hard to give the community a sense of belonging.

” I would also provide medical equipment and drugs to the existing health facilities in this area,” he added.

A representative of the community, Mr Udey Ador, lauded the Senator for the gesture and appealed for construction of additional access roads to the community.

Ador explained that another need of the community was reconstruction and equipping of their only Health Centre to ease the burden of taking their sick persons to Obodu town for medical attention.

”We do carry our sick ones to the nearest town, Obodu, for medical attention due to poor access roads ,” he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that It takes about five hours from the famous Obudu Cattle Ranch to access the community on foot. (NAN)
