President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the Federal Government’s takeover of the Gombe State Airport.
This was disclosed on Friday by the Gombe State governor, Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya, after meeting with President Buhari in his office at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
He said the planned takeover of the airport was in the best interest of the airport as it would ensure the availability of the needed funding for its maintenance throughout its lifespan.
Recall that in June, officials of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) had inspected facilities at the Gombe International Airport and certified it for the airlift of Muslim pilgrims in the state to Saudi Arabia.
