Sterling One Foundation and Blu Impact say that addressing the challenges of the less privilege and the most abandoned in the society require partnerships from corporates and individuals.
The duo spoke with Newsmen against the backdrop of the celebration of the World Humanitarian Day (WHD) observed every August 19.
The theme for the 2022 celebration was: “It takes a village.“
Mrs Olapeju Ibekwe, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Sterling One Foundation, praised the efforts of individuals and corporate organisations who support the vulnerable globally.
“We celebrate all humanitarians – volunteers, professionals, donors, across the globe who take responsibility and give a helping hand by providing basic necessities like food, shelter, clothing and resources, whenever and wherever people are in need.
“They provide invaluable service to humanity and are always the first responders when disaster strikes and stay through to be a beacon of hope while ensuring full recovery,” Ibekwe said.
She said that Sterling One Foundation remain committed to supporting the development ecosystem in Nigeria.
She said that the foundation, through its ‘Giving Grants’ and capacity building initiatives, have helped to strengthen and support the great work done by professionals who care for the most abandoned in the society.
“The work will be much more effective when other partners join in to help make the world a better place,” Ibekwe told NAN.
The CEO added that the foundation just concluded the African Social Impact Summit (ASSIS), which drew partners from across the globe to address the challenges of youth underdevelopment in Africa.
She said that COVID-19 pandemic brought a lot of challenges that made people from developing countries struggle to meet the basic necessities of life.
According to her, the coming together of partners can help to address the challenges of hunger and unemployment in the African continent.
Also speaking, Mrs Judith Obiajulu-Isaac, Co-founder of Blu Impact, a Social Enterprise, said that the work, time and resources put together by social workers were invaluable
“To all those out there that give their time and resources to ensure that vulnerable communities thrive: the work you do is invaluable and you are deeply appreciated.”
Obiajulu-Isaac said that Blu Impact, as a social enterprise, understands the importance of partnerships and sustainability in the humanitarian space and thoughts.
“The importance of every single person cannot be overstated.
“As the old adage goes, it takes a village to raise a child.
“And so, we see this village and we deeply respect it,” Obiajulu-Isaac said.(NAN)
