Ondo Assembly partners NDLEA to tackle drug abuse

The Ondo State House of Assembly has expressed readiness to partner the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to ensure eradication of drug abuse and trafficking, especially among youths in the State.

The Speaker, Bamidele Oleyelogun, disclosed this on Wednesday  when he hosted the Commander, NDLEA, Zone 1, Mr. Parah Bawa in his office.

Oleyelogun expressed worry over the high rate at which people got involved in drug abuse and trafficking, particularly the youth.

The speaker said that the state government had put in place various measures aimed at curbing the monster.

He commended Gov. Rotimi Akeredolu for his efforts toward eradicating crime in the state and expressed optimism that the 50 Hilux vehicles recently distributed to security operatives in the state would help tremendously to combat crime in the state.

He gave assurance of the State House of Assembly’s support for NDLEA when necessary and lauded the Zonal Commander for maintaining zero tolerance for drug abuse and trafficking in the state.

The Commander, Mr. Parah Bawa in his remarks, said that he was at the House with his team on advocacy visit, saying that the fight against drug abuse and trafficking was a collective responsibility of all at various levels.

Bawa  highlighted the dangers inherent in the ugly trend and warned individuals who engaged in such act to desist or face the full wrath of the law.(NAN)
