The Minister of Transportation, Muazu Sambo has said train services along the Abuja-Kaduna rail corridor will begin operation again once terrorists release all those abducted from the AK-9 train, and they are all reunited with their families.
He also emphasized the safety of the operation, disclosing that the service cannot resume until the digital security systems that will monitor activities around the tracks are acquired and installed.
Fearing that Nigerians will see the government as insensitive if the rail resumes operation while those kidnapped remain with their abductors, he said the government would wait until they are all released.Â
The Minister spoke in Abuja on Tuesday during an inspection of the Idu and Kubwa stations.
Since the abduction of passengers along the Kaduna-Abuja rail line, train service along the corridor was suspended by the Nigerian Railway Corporation, NRC.
The Kaduna-bound train was on March 28th attacked by suspected terrorists, killing many people while several others were abducted.Â
