EEbonyi polls: Reps candidate says, APC presented best 11

Chief Eze Nwachukwu, an APC House of Representatives Candidate in Ebonyi, has attributed the party’s victory in Saturday’s Local Goverment Elections in the state to its choice of quality candidates.

Revealed that the Ebonyi State Independent Electoral Commisson Sunday declared APC the winner of the Chairmanship and Councillorship positions in the 13 LGAs.

Nwachukwu, who is running for the Ebonyi/Ohaukwu Federal Constituency seat, said that APC presented its best for the polls.

He spoke in an interview with NAN in Abakaliki on Sunday, following the party’s landslide at the polls.

According to him, the victory was the result of the party’s painstaking mobilisation and total acceptability by the people.

“We presented the best team that could achieve total victory for us as they were clearly the peoples’ choice.

“We duly conformed with the provisions of the party and those of the Electoral Act 2022 as amended, which offered the options of consensus, direct or indirect primaries,” he said.

Nwachukwu, who is the immediate past state APC Chairman, said that the people chose the consensus option, which produced their choice candidates.

“The state has 171 wards and only 38 wards held primaries, while others opted for consensus.

“The primaries were fiercely contested, proving that the people wanted nothing but the best.

“Credit should go to Gov. Dave Umahi, who brought his political ingenuity to change the party’s electoral fortunes,” he said.
Nwachukwu also said that the victory further proved APC’s dorminance in Ebonyi ahead of the 2023 general elections.

“The development is a big plus for the party’s candidates in all positions in the general elections.

“It is also an indication that the party’s fortune at the presidential election is guaranteed in the state,” he said.

He also said that the opposition parties in the state offered “low resistance”, hence making the polls a no-contest.

He said: “The main opposition party, for instance, is heavily factionalised and depended on the court to affirm its rightful candidates for the elections.

“On the contrary, APC produced authentic candidates for all the positions.” (NAN)
