Terrorists invasion of Abuja: IGP Baba orders additional deployment of assets

Must read

Following the renewed attack on the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja by some terrorists, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Alkali Baba Usman, has ordered the immediate deployment of additional assets to strategic locations in the nation’s capital

Recall that Abuja has recently come under heavy attacks by suspected terrorists who have continued to threaten government institutions.

A month ago, a medium security prison in Kuje Area Council was attacked, leading to the escape of many inmates.

On Monday, terrorists attempting to attack the Nigerian law school laid an ambush for the guard brigade, killing 3 top military officers and many others.

Following the attacks and other threats, the Nigerian government had ordered the immediate closure of the Federal Government College in Kwali, Abuja.

But the IGP has assured residents of their safety, saying all has been put in place to ensure a safe FCT.

He urged residents to synergize with the police in the effort to clear criminal elements from the FCT.

The signal issued and signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi on Tuesday, read;

“FCT SECURITY: We are not leaving any stone unturned to fortify the Federal Capital Territory and its environs.

“The IGP has ordered for additional deployment of assets to Strategic areas of the FCT while the Force Intelligence Bureau has been charged on robust Intelligence gathering and information sharing amongst other agencies.

” All residents of the FCT are urged to synergise and be on the same page with the Police and other security agencies in making sure that we forestall any ugly incidents in and around the FCT.”
