ASUU strike: Labour union shuts down National Assembly

The Nigerian Labour Congress on Wednesday stormed the National Assembly in a solidarity protest with the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, and other academic unions currently on strike over unpaid allowances and conditions of service.

ASUU has been on strike since February 2022.

Addressing the workers at the three-arm zone, Abuja, President of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, Comrade Ibrahim Mohammed appealed to the Federal Government to meet the demands of the unions.

Meanwhile, there is heavy security around the National Assembly to forestall possible breakdown of law and order during the protest.

Policemen have been mobilized to all entrances of the National Assembly as well as the Arcade.
