Abia 2023: YPP chieftain, Anyaogu hints on rationale behind withdrawal from guber race

A chieftain of the Young Progressive Party (YPP) from Abia State, Chief James Okereke Anyaogu, has revealed the rationale behind his withdrawal from 2023 Abia gubernatorial race.

He maintained also that his recent action does not entail the abandonment of his goals to see to the actualization of a working Abia, and reassured that every plan to rescue Abia State as an individual, especially the youths is intact, as he also reassured that he shall ensure its initiation, completion, and commissioning for the betterment of the Abia populaces.

Mr Anyaogu, who made his feelings known in a worded statement forwarded to AFRIPOST on Monday in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, reiterated his genuine resolve and commitments towards enhancing the welfare of the people and also regretted the worsening state of hopelessness and privation foisted on the citizens of the state.

According to the YPP gubernatorial hopeful in words: “You all are desirous of a better Abia State which is a direct reflection of my thoughts and mission. Abia State must be rescued and I shall continue to do whatever is necessary to place Abia State above an average scale.

“However, the events of these few days have not been executed as planned and due to this, and the circumstances beyond my control, a difficult decision that is hard for me to take but has become the best decision, I wish to inform you all of my withdrawal from the Abia 2023 guber race.

Continuing, he explained, “this does not entail the abandonment of my goals to see a working Abia. Every plan to rescue Abia State as an individual, especially the youths is intact and I shall ensure its initiation, completion, and commissioning for the betterment of Abians.

“Due to the state of hopelessness and deprivation I have witnessed in Abia, I shall continue to provide the monthly stipends to the retired 47 Abia pensioners who have been on my payroll since April 2020”.

Anyaogu thanked his numerous teeming supporters across the seventeen local government areas of Abia State for their unflinching support, backup and serving as my pillar base for my struggle to create a better Abia.

The party stalwart said, “I cannot thank you enough for all you have done ever since I made the guber ambition officially known which is exemplified in your uncommon commitments.

“You all are desirous of a better Abia State which is a direct reflection of my thoughts and mission. Abia State must be rescued and I shall continue to do whatever that is necessary to place Abia State above an average scale”, Anyaogu noted.

The Abia party chieftain also appealed to his teeming supporters who may have been disappointed by his withdrawal and further assured them of his consistency in his developmental plans for the good of the people.

“I want to encourage and assure you of my consistency. We will do better tomorrow, do not know, however, abandon your position for a better and working Abia”.

Anyaogu who holds the traditional title of “Ihie Abia”, reassured of his maximum support for the gubernatorial candidacy of Engr Enyinnaya Nwafor under the platform of the Young Progressive Party and other candidates in 2023.
