Ekiti govt announces 74 new COVID-19 cases

The Ekiti State Government has announced the record of seventy-four new cases of COVID-19 in the state.

The announcement came in a statement issued in Ado Ekiti yesterday by the State Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr Oyebanji Filani. Filani said that the new cases were recorded after the Eid- el-Kabir celebration.

He said that there was a significant decline in the number of positive COVID-19 cases and low occupancy in the isolation centers before the Eid El Kabir celebrations which occurred early this month.

The Health Commissioner told all residents of the state to continue to adhere to all protocols.

He said wearing of facemasks, proper handwashing or use of alcohol-based sanitizer, and social or physical distancing should be observed going forward.

Residents were also charged to report at the nearest health facility when sick, get tested and get isolated if positive. He ordered banks and other institutions to pay attention to the new measures.

He said vaccination remains the most effective means of curbing the pandemic and encouraged all residents of the state to get vaccinated.
