The hard fighting Falcons had their two players sent off, but they held on after a 1-1 draw till the end of the duration and extra time.
The Super Falcons, however, failed to proceed to the final of the tournament for the first time after they missed a penalty. Ifeoma Onumonu’s penalty was stopped by the Moroccan goalkeeper as the game ended 5-4 on penalty.
Recall that Nigeria had earlier lost to South Africa at the early stage of the tournament.
The Super Falcons went into the game as the defending champions.
