Okezie Ikpeazu, the Deputy Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governor’s Forum, and Governor Abia State has reacted to the victory of the flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party in the just concluded gubernatorial election held in Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, on Saturday.
AFRIPOST reported that the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), had n the early hours of Sunday declared Senator Adeleke winner with a total vote of 403,371 to defeat the closest rival and incumbent Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola of the All Progressive Congress, who got 375,027 votes.
Reacting, Dr Ikpeazu, in a statement issued by Onyebuchi Ememanka, his Chief Press Secretary, in Umuahia, the state capital on Monday, congratulated the Governor-elect of Osun State, Senator Ademola Nurudeen Adeleke, on his resounding victory at the concluded gubernatorial election conducted in the state.
He stated that the victory was a clear testimony of the consistency of Senator Adeleke, the preference of the PDP, as a party of choice by Nigerians and most importantly, the power of a resolute people to determine the direction for their future.
Governor Ikpeazu saluted the tenacity of the Osun people and assured them that Senator Adeleke’s tenure shall bring forth an era of positive change in Abia State.
He also congratulated members of the Peoples Democratic Party across the Nigeria federation and further maintained that the outcome of the Osun election was signpost of what lies ahead.
According to the statement by Ememanka, “the Governor, on behalf of the Government and people of Abia State, congratulates the Governor-elect and wishes him the best of health and strength to face the daunting challenges of leadership”.
