God did not create me to buy delegates – Peter Obi’s running mate, Baba Ahmed chides PDP

Must read

Senator Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed has said he withdrew from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship race in Kaduna State because he was not created by God to buy delegates’ votes.

AFRIPOST recalls that Baba-Ahmed was on Friday unveiled as running mate to the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Baba-Ahmed, the founder of Baze University, Abuja, was announced the LP vice-presidential candidate in Abuja on Friday.

His announcement came barely 24 hours after the Director-General, Peter Obi Campaign Organisation, Doyin Okupe, announced his withdrawal as the vice-presidential candidate of the party.

Okupe who announced his withdrawal via his verified Twitter handle @doyinokupe noted that his party would announce the new running mate to the presidential candidate.

The Labour party had named Okupe as the interim vice presidential candidate of the LP in order to beat the deadline by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

But in an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, he said:

“I withdrew from the PDP governorship race in Kaduna, because God has not created me as someone who will buy delegates’ votes.

“And I made it categorically clear that I was not in search of a job. I was there to correct a very bad situation.

“When it became apparent that it was necessary to buy votes, I said I just can’t do it. Respectfully, I withdrew from the race.

“And I told them I will remain faithful and loyal to the party. But then it became clear they were afraid of me and I had no future in the party.”

Also, recall that Baba Ahmed had earlier withdrawn from the PDP primary when it became clear that the party was allegedly involved in the buying of delegates’ votes.
