I’m comfortable with Okowa as my running mate – Atiku Abubakar

The Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar has expressed joy over his choice of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as his running mate for the 2023 election.

PDP has gone into internal crisis since the emergence of Okowa as Atiku’s running mate, a situation many party chieftains had considered a slap on their faces. The most aggrieved of all is Rivers Governor, Nyesom Wike who came second in the party’s primary.

But the former vice president during the weekend and in reaction to a special address by the governor said he is comfortable with the choice of Okowa. Atiku reacted via a tweet.

Okowa, in a short video, said being on the ticket with Atiku was an opportunity for him to join in resetting the trajectory of Nigeria towards growth, peace and prosperity.

“There is probably no time in the history of our country that the demand for good leadership is more compelling than the times that we are living in.

“Our land continues to dig deep in the throes of disunity and our economy keeps breaking away from the reach of everyday hardworking Nigeria.

“The scale of insecurity and the toll it takes on the peace of this country requires that we all roll up our sleeves to fight for peace to return to Nigeria”, he noted.

He called on all party men and women to join in the struggle to remove APC from power come 2023.

Responding, Atiku stated that all hands must be on deck to return Nigeria to the path of growth and development.

“And I am excited to go on this journey with my Vice Presidential candidate, H.E Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa.

“Let’s come together as ONE towards a brighter future for all and for Nigeria”, he tweeted.
