The Deputy Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly and the two-term member representing Ohafia south constituency, Rt Hon Ifeanyi Uchendu, has disclosed the rationale behind his bid to represent the Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency of Abia State at the House of Representatives in 2023.

Uchendu who recently emerged as the House of Representatives Standard bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), during the just concluded primary elections held across the state, hinged his decision on his desire and vision to drive the attainment of higher value level of development in the federal constituency, using the instrumentalities of quality representatiation and lawmaking processes.

He made this known in a statement obtained by AFRIPOST in Umuahia, the state capital on Thursday, maintained that he’s not seeking to be elected in the National Assembly to enrich and amass wealth, but to ensure the full realization of the hope of accelerated development in various localities, and by so doing, bring the dividends of democracy to the doorsteps of the people, as he is richly blessed by God almighty.

“To me, politics is not a tool for self-sustainenance  and raising of a person’s standard of living, rather it is an act of putting oneself in the service of the people”, the deputy speaker added.

Uchendu, therefore, solicited the support of the electorates to the actualization of the set-goals and dreams for the Arochukwu/Ohafia federal constituency in 2023.

“Let us walk together in this journey towards the insurance of upliftment of our constituency”, he asked.
