The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Nurudeen Jackson Ademola Adeleke*, has denied rumour making rounds that he plans to rename Abere as Edeland and reclaim alleged land usurped by Osogbo.
“I want to categorically deny that myself or anybody within my campaign organisation has any such plan whatsoever. This is the handiwork of mischief makers who want to create a wedge between the good people of Ede and Osogbo. Both communities have been living together in peace and harmony for decades and it is uncharitable for any evil mind to engineer such devilish thoughts.
I remain a true friend of Osogboland and I will therefore never contemplate any move that can harm the peace and harmony of the two communities. I urge the good people of Osogboland to ignore the rumour as the ranting of failed politicians who are scared of their imminent defeat come July 16th.
