Salary: Govt. establishes complaint desk offices

Must read

The Bauchi State Government has approved the establishment of Salary Complaint Desk Offices in all the Ministries, Departments and Agencies in the state and Local Government Councils.

The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr Ibrahim Kashim, disclosed this at a news conference in Bauchi on Monday.

Kashim said the measure became necessary due to persistent workers’ complaints about salary issues in the state.

He gave assurance that the offices would fasttrack responses to salary-related complaints from genuine civil servants who were allegedly victimised during the verification of workers.

“This was part of the decisions reached at a special meeting that involved all stakeholders in salary administration, with a view to addressing the lingering issue.

“During the long-term verification, the state government succeeded in removing a number of ghost workers.

“The measure led to saving huge amount of money in government treasury,” he said
Kashim alleged that the present administration inherited a fraudulent salary system.

He said that part of the ongoing reform was to allow the Office of the Head of Service (HoS) to take full control of workers’ nominal and payroll.

He charged the office of the Accountant-General and HoS to reconcile and handle all the pending genuine cases before the end of June.

The SSG also directed them to ensure the smooth implementation of the new salary system.
He urged the civil servants in the state to always take advantage of the desk offices to address their
salary-related problems and not join in spreading unverified information. (NAN)
