The immediate past Special Adviser to the Abia State Governor on E-Governance, Nnaji Obed Asiegbu, has joined the Young Progressive Party in Abia State.
He also emerged as the YPP House of Assembly standard-bearer for the seat of Umuahia north state constituency in the upcoming main general elections in 2023 in the state.
His entry into the Young Progressive Party followed his recent resignation and withdrawal from the State House of Assembly race under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party in Abia State.
However, Mr Asiegbu emerged as YPP State Assembly candidate through affirmation during the well-participated concluded primary election conducted in Umuahia North constituency by the leadership of the party.
AFRIPOST recalls that Nnaji Obed Asiegbu, had in an open letter addressed to the PDP leadership and his teeming supporters across the Umuahia north state constituency on June 7, hinged his resignation from the PDP, on the alleged fake delegates lists used during the concluded PDP State House of Assembly primary election conducted at Umuahia north state constituency by the party leadership in Abia State ahead of the main elections in 2023.
He also claimed that no congress was conducted to elect Ad-hoc delegates for the recently-concluded primaries held across the wards of Umuahia north state Constituency of Abia State, and also maintained that such practices negated democratic principles.
Meanwhile, the Young Progressive Party Candidate for Umuahia North State Constituency seat, Nnaji Obed Asiegbu, in a statement in Umuahia on Wednesday, solicited support and partnership from the people, to represent Umuahia north state constituency otherwise known as “ndi ohuhu” as member of the House of Assembly come 2023.
The YPP candidate reiterated his promise to represent the interest of the people of Umuahia north constituents with humility and dedication, reassuring also that the constituents of effective and responsive representation if supported to emerge as a lawmaker come 2023.
According to Asiegbu, “please reserve your vote for the humble, accessible, sincere and genuine obedient Obed. Remember that obedient bed is that useful youth that has been consistent in pursuing the best for ndi ohuhu and by extension, humanity”.
