Must read

Gaskiya Youth Movement, a group under the All Progressives Congress, APC, has asked the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja to stop Bola Ahmed Tinubu from contesting the 2023 presidential primary of the party.

Tinubu, a former Lagos State Governor, is a strong contender in the ruling party ahead of the party’s primary scheduled for Monday, June 6th and 7th.

The group in a suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/774/2022, filed before the court asked teh court to determine whether the National Leader of the ruling party can take part in the primaries or that of any other political party, given his “questionable educational background and date of birth”.

Tinubu and his political party are listed as first and second defendants in the suit, while the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is listed as the third defendant.

The group urged the court to declare that upon consideration of the relevant laws, the former Lagos State Governor cannot take part or contest in the primary election on the platform of the first defendant (APC).

The group said it is out of it for the APC to allow Tinubu to take part in the primary considering all teh issues.

AFRIPOST recalls that Tinubu had earlier boasted that he was the brain behind President Muhammadu Buhari emergence as president.

Speaking in Ogun State, Tinubu said he led the war that conquered the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. The former Lagos State Governor further said Buhari was almost giving up on his aspiration before he came to the rescue.

He said, “If not me that led the war from the front, Buhari would not have emerged as the president. He contested first, second and third times, but lost. He even said on television that he won’t contest again.

“But I went to his home in Katsina, I told him you would contest and win, but you won’t joke with the matters of the Yorubas.
