The defeated Rivers State Governor in the just concluded Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential primary, Nyesom Wike and other party leaders visited ex-Vice President and PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar on Wednesday.
Atiku won the PDP ticket last Saturday in a keenly contested primary after Governor Tambuwal of Sokoto State stepped down to join forces with him against Wike.
The former VP commented disclosed on his social media pages on Thursday that it was his pleasure to receive the former minister and other party leaders at his residence today (Thursday).
“It was a pleasure to receive His Excellency Nyesom Wike in the company of notable leaders and officials of our great party, the PDP, at my residence today,” he wrote.
Atiku said he was proud of the promises the spirit of camaraderie “holds for our party as a united front that guarantees victory in the next election to rescue the country”.
Wike’s visit to the PDP presidential hopeful is a fulfilment of his earlier vow to support whoever emerges as the PDP presidential standard bearer.
“I am not going to go back on my word. We cannot abandon the @OfficialPDPNig, we will be fully supporting H.E @atiku”, he assured.
