2023 Presidency: Utomi steps down for Peter Obi as Labour Party candidate

A Labour Party (LP), presidential aspirant, Professor Pat Utomi has stepped down for Peter Obi.

The former All Progressive Congress (APC) factional governorship candidate in the 2019 general elections in Delta State stepped down for Obi at the partyā€™s presidential primary in Asaba, the Delta State capital on Monday.

Obi had last week, resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the Labour Party in pursuance of his aspiration to become the next president of Nigeria.

In the PDP, the former governor of Anambra State was one of the presidential aspirants of the party.

Utomi in his remarks said, ā€œI have chosen a route that I consider to be in line with our aspirations and my mantra of taking the country from consumption to production; and that is the Labour Party which is synonymous with the people, workers, development, production, securing and uniting Nigerians as one family.ā€
