Negotiation fails as Tinubu campaign DG, Jibrin dumps APC, joins Kwankwaso’s ANPP

Must read

Abdulmumin Jibrin, a strong supporter and campaign Director-General of All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential aspirant, Bola Tinubu, has officially parted ways with the ruling party.

Jibrin has now moved to the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP.

AFRIPOST recalls that Mr Jibrin had earlier announced the decision to leave the APC on his verified handle, saying he would reveal the next party to join within 24 hours. But that did not happen as the governor intervened and called for a meeting to further discuss some of his concerns.

He had tweeted this: “I have done my best for APC. It’s time to move on. I will announce my new political party within the next 24 hours insha Allah. I will make a formal statement in due course. Hon Abdulmumin Jibrin,” he tweeted.

As at Friday, report emerged that the former member of the House of Representatives had joined the NNPP which is led by former Kano State governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, after a meeting with the party leaders in Kano and Abuja.

Confirming the development, Jibrin, on Friday night posted a video of his formal defection with a caption: ‘NNPP – NEW NIGERIA – SABUWAR NIGERIA! #EyeOnTheBall’ and showing him and members of the NNPP hoisting a basket of fruits which is the party’s logo, in acceptance of his membership of the party.
