2023 General Elections: Onyekwere picks YPP governorship nomination forms

A governorship hopeful on the platform of the Young Progressive Party (YPP), in Abia State, Onyekwere Akym  Uche, has picked the N7m Gubernatorial Expression of Interests and Nomination forms of the Young Progressive Party ahead of the primaries and the main general elections in 2023 in the state.

Onyekwere who was flanked by business and political associates, obtained the forms nomination forms at the national  Secretriate of the YPP in federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Recall that Onyekwere had on 29th April 2022, formally declared his intention to contest for the position of Governor of Abia State in the 2023 general elections during an event held at his Amaba community in Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State.

This came barely after the 2023 gubernatorial aspirant had also in January, 2022, dumped the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for the Young Progressive Party (YPP)in Abia state.

Addressing newsmen shortly after he obtained his Governorship Express of Interest and Nomination Forms of Young Progressive Party, which contained in a release issued to newsmen in Umuahia, the Abia state capital on Friday, Onyekwere, who also doubled as the founder of OAU Foundation, reiterated that his bid to become Governor of Abia State is necessitated by the pains and myriads of socio-economic and Infrastructural challenges and deficits facing the state.

He promised to deplore all state funds in adding value to the state, and further maintained that his governorship aspiration hinged on hope for the people and a greater future.

The National Assembly aspirant partly said, “civil servants and pensioners are owed backlog of unpaid salaries, road Infrastructure is miserable, health sector is collapsed, things are generally bad.

“I will deplore all state funds in adding value to the state if given the opportunity to emerge as the governor of Abia state in 2023.

“We will show Abia people the milestones, the plans and the objective of my government activities and assessing the progress of the Abia together”.
