The remains of Deborah Yakubu, a 200-level Home Economics student of Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto, who was clubbed and burnt to death in Soloto over an alleged blasphemy comment have been laid to rest.
AFRIPOST reports that Deborah was buried in her hometown,Tunga Magajiya, in Rijau local government area of Niger State on Saturday after his father returned from with his remains via a commercial bus.
The father was earlier called to come down to Sokoto to pick the remains of her daughter.
On-watchers and family members wailed as the student was laid to rest.
She was buried around 6:30pm at the Christian cemetery in Tunga Magajiya, near Abuja.
Youths had earlier protested that her body be properly handed to the family and not just through phone calls as was the case, but her family insisted on proceeding with the burial rites.
Her uncle, who is the Pastor of ECWA in Tunga Magajiya, Emmanuel Maaji, led the prayers at the cemetery before she was lowered to mother earth.
