End insecurity permanently now – CAN tells Federal govt

The newly elected Chairman of Niger state chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Most Revd Bulus Yohana, Bishop has called on the Federal and State Governments to intensify efforts in bringing security challenges to a permanent end.

The new state CAN chairman stated this in his acceptance speech after assuming office in Minna.

He lamented the state of insecurity in parts of Niger State while appealing to the Niger state Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello to act fast in addressing the problems, adding that it is sad that due to the situation many people have lost their lives and others displaced from their homes and living in Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, camps.

Yonana also called on the state government to ensure fairness, equity and justice prevail in the state irrespective of tribe or religious affiliations.He called on political parties in the state to ensure a Muslim/Christian or a Christian/Muslim Governorship ticket in the forthcoming general elections as any party that abides by this, will get massive votes from the Christian faith.

Yonana commended the immediate past leadership of Rev. Matthias Echioda for standing firm and remaining steadfast in the state.

Revd. Dr. Mathias Echioda had served his two term tenure which began in 2016.

Also in his speech, the General Secretary of CAN, Bar. Joseph Daramola, enjoined the new leaders to work for the unity and progress of the Body of Christ in the State at all times.

Other elected officials are Ezekiel Ojo, Deputy Chairman, Apostle Raphael Opawoye, Secretary, Very Rev. Goodseed Skelema, Assistant Secretary, Oyashowo Oyeye, Treasurer.
