A National Assembly hopeful and the immediate past Pro-Chancellor and the Chairman Board Council of the Federal University of Calabar, Cross River State, Senator Nkechi Nwaogu, has revealed the rationale behind her recent declaration to return to the Nigerian senate in 2023, to represent Abia central senatorial district of Abia State.

AFRIPOST recalls that Nwaogu had in March 2022, announced her bid to return to the upper legislative chamber of the National Assembly on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in 2023.

Before the current development, Mrs Nwaogu had also represented the Osisioma Ngwa, Ugwunagbo and Obingwa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives from 2003 to 2007.

In 2007, she was equally elected as the senator representing Abia Central Senatorial District. In 2011 she was re-elected for a second tenure in office.

However, while, adducing the reason behind her decision to re-contest the Abia central district seat in the upcoming 2023 general elections in the country, in a statement, forwarded to AFRIPOST on Tuesday, Senator Nwaogu, said that she joined the race to emancipate, restore and resuscitates Abia central from the shackles of misrepresentation and legislative redundancy.

She assured of positive absolute turnaround in Abia central senatorial district if supported by delegates in the upcoming primaries of the All Progressive Congress, and the main general elections in 2023 to return back to the senate.

“My decision to run for  Abia central seat in the senate is divine. I’m not going to do with my power and might. But I’m going to be that Divine instrument of God to emancipate, liberate, restore and resuscitate Abia central from misrepresentation”, she stated.

Senator Nwaogu appealed to all eligible delegates for the forthcoming primary election of the All Progressive Congress (APC) to vote for a credible and popular candidate with verifiable track records, as it’s a prerequisite factor for the party to come out victorious in the 2023 general election.

She further called on the party delegates from Abia Central Senatorial District to vote for her to become the Senatorial flagbearer of the APC ahead of the main election in 2023.

According to the ex-member of the national assembly, “Abia central Senatorial district must be restored from the doldrums”.
